For many members this is the highlight of the Spice year – an absolutely super week of Skiing and Socialising in one of Europe’s leading resorts. For 2011 we have arranged a real ski treat as we travel to Switzerland and the resort of Verbier.  Verbier is a glacier resort nestled in the heart of the Southern Alps – a haven for serious and social skiers alike.

Previous Spice Scotland Ski holidays have proved hugely popular and this is sure to follow suit. 

This will be our 9^th ski holiday and my 1^st as coordinator and I invite you to join me for what promises to be one of the best weeks of your life.

Chalet Hotel De Verbiers: Situated in the heart of Verbier just 5 minutes’ walk to the Medran lift, this rustic-style hotel has become very popular in the Chalet Hotel programme. Its friendly and relaxed atmosphere provides a warm welcome for all guests. The De Verbier is an ideal base for groups who like an informal, yet warm ambience and want to be close to all the resort facilities. The Chalet Hotel is in the centre of Verbier, on the Place Centrale right next door to the Tourist Office and close to many of the local bars and nightlife. Trip Advisor 4 star rated.

The Skiing: Verbier is justifiably famous as one of the most outstanding ski areas in Europe and lies high in a sunny, well-sheltered position in the heart of Switzerland's southern-most Alps.

The ski area is vast, high and varied with over 400kms of runs (including Thyon, Veysonnaz and Nendaz) and a glacier at 3,330m, providing even the most proficient skier with an almost unlimited number of challenges.  Verbier also offers the novice a great introduction to the sport and with excellent tuition available this break is ideal for all.  I have never ever skied before and am looking forward immensely to learning some basic skills.

Apres Ski: Verbier’s vibrant nightlife is famous! The trendy and cosmopolitan town is always lively both during the day and night. There's a vast array of tempting shops and boutiques in the cosmopolitan village centre, as well as many restaurants and popular bars where lively nightlife abounds.  Recommended are: Offshore, Marshals, the Pub Mont Fort, the Farm Club, the Hotel Farinet bar, Murphy's Bar and Cafe de la Poste for dancing into the early hours.
